This is a full-time, AFT position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the "NL" category of employment (non-fixed work week) An AFT- NL professional staff member or librarian who is required to work beyond 35 hours shall be compensated through compensatory time off. Compensatory time shall be earned for hours worked beyond the normal work week, or on an employee's regular day off, if requested and approved by their supervisor.

Job Summary:

The Field Education Coordinator assists the Director of Field Education for the Social Work program in the tasks that must be performed to place and maintain the BSW and MSW students in their field placements.

Position is fulltime/ 12 month.



o Assist in program assessment by evaluating student performance in the field to achieve the program's competencies;

o Assist in preparing, receiving and processing of field placement applications for Practice I and III;

o Assist in interviewing students to determine areas of interest, assess their abilities for field and assign field placement sites for SWRK 325, 326 direct/micro practice practicum and the senior year SWRK 327 macro practice practicum;

o Assist in developing and maintaining lists of agency sites and field instructors;

o Assist in the maintenance of informational files of all agencies utilized

o Assist in the distribution, collection, and analysis of data from Student Evaluation of Field Placement form for the program's outcome assessment;

o Act as a field liaison between agencies and the Field Education department.

o Maintain ongoing correspondence to field instructors for assigned students

o Serve as a faculty field advisor for assigned Field Education students

o Assist in developing and facilitating connections between student interns and field placements.

o Assist students in their development of a professional social work identity



+ Masters in Social Work (MSW) required.

+ A minimum of two (2) years Post-MSW social work practice experience.

+ Excellent verbal communications skills required.

+ The position requires extensive driving.

+ Must have knowledge of the social work community in Bergen and surrounding counties.


This position requires reporting to a specific office/satellite campus. Location of office/satellite campus will vary and reporting schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Use of personal vehicle will be required for travel to and from work site. Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey.
